You can tell this was a great rendition but this AUD is just way too muddy. An aggressive EQ might do this one some good

No SBD but this AUD is actually quite fantastic. This is a superb version, totally worth your time

Words to describe this one: gentle, tranquil, just beautiful. Criminally underrated. Talkin 25 to life criminally underrated.

There's some intentional stutters in the solo that the whole band picks up on and its magical. On fire, not sure how this wasn't already here

Very abrupt out of mama tried-- Jerry takes a longer solo and totally kills it. 100% worth a listen

Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain
Aug. 12, 1981
Salt Palace

Incredible! This is sitting at 13 votes? Massive, bouncy scarlet with an A1 bridge solo. When it comes to scarlet begonias I always look for that "bounce" in the intro, and this one's got it in spades. Most incredible though is the transition; it's very erratic coming into fire, but also somehow very smooth. Everyone is trying to do something different but it somehow ends up oddly cohesive, in a manner only the dead could pull off. The drummers are throwing in all kinds of snare fills, Jerry is gingerly transitioning, and Phil is fragmenting the fire riff. Totally awesome. The fire that follows is no slouch either-- Jerry gets that tone spectrum flowing and it starts to smolder.

This is a very sweet rendition. Brent's even got an almost Kraftwerk vibe going in the transition-- definitely one of my fav tones I've heard from him so far. The transition overall is just really awesome. Jerry also sounds great vocally and the solos really sparkle in a nice, mellow kind of way. Needs more attention, 7 votes def not a fair spot for this one. Slowly realizing now how much I've overlooked the 80s. Fantastic rec
It Must Have Been The Roses

Lindley Meadows, Golden Gate Park

Awesome rec. I’m not that familiar with JGB so that was a definite eye opener for sure. The jam in that reminded me a lot of the 9/3/77 NFA where it’s just peak all the way through. Jerry is just not letting up, and that’s gotta be the fattest tiger tone I’ve ever heard. You can tell he’s super into it from the beginning and the jam goes the distance as a result. Just awesome

This performance of this particular tune is pretty impossible to argue against. The jam out of drums is so nuts I'd be hard pressed to find anybody, head or not, that couldn't get down with it. That bassline, the primal drums, and of course Garcia going nuts on top of it all is just picture perfect. I only wish we had this show in stereo.
