There's some intentional stutters in the solo that the whole band picks up on and its magical. On fire, not sure how this wasn't already here

Absolutely perfect + uncompromising explosion from Jerry out of the solo back into the chorus. The Cornell loser was my favorite (and my first foray into the dead!) until I started listening to this one- for what its worth, the pinch harmonic section of the solo I'd still give to Cornell but the solo back into the chorus is defined by this version.

Hahaha I love this site. I think we all fall victim to a bit of pretentiousness and over-indulgence here and there, as sometimes personal favorites are so favorite its angering to see them at any spot but #1 (11/30/73 eyes of the world, smokes 8/6/74 like a loaded bowlpiece). I'll totally acknowledge that this crs is objectively probably not the best and I sympathize with the feeling that it shouldn't be #1, but it's my personal favorite and justifiable to me at #1. darkstar67- I'm a younger head at just 18, but had I been born then I can imagine that I might've found you. Gonna have to agree with darkstar67 here. For me, the guitar tone Jerry had going in feb 78 works well enough with cr+s to make it legendary, even if it isn't necessarily the most out there. Yeah sure the vocals are definitely on the weaker side, but Jerry's tone on dp18 is just my favorite, and that's why this one gets my vote.
