I yearn for a better recording of this show.

Another unsurprisingly great '78 Prophet. Can't get enough of these EP outros, just so.... Jerry

Uptempo with liquid gold Jerry leads. Only EP exists on SBD from this 2nd set-- fight through the muffled AUD and hear the Garcia flamethrower.

Fantastic '78 EP. This song was untouchable in '78 and Jerry doesn't let up in the outro

Amazing solo, just when you think Jerry's done he explodes with some lightning fast hyperpicking

Not Fade Away
May 15, 1977
St. Louis Arena
NFA is one of those songs you see on a '77 setlist and you know it's gonna be good. Lyrics aren't super complicated, doesn't have a weird rhythm, just a perfect foundation for JG to freely go nuts on with that orgasmic smoldering tone from the Bean. Monster '77 NFAs with only 10 votes like this one are really not all that far off from the titans 9/3 & 5/8-- this one could easily belong in the conversation of best ever along with several others I'm neglecting to mention
St. Stephen

St. Louis Arena
Good call on the AUD ds67. Very nice and warm with a nice balance of crowd noise, super fun party time rock n' roll stephen. NFA sizzles and smolders coming out of Iko Iko. Sugarmags also great, nice & happy catharsis after that monster sequence. Big big strums from JG
Comes A Time

After finally getting around to listening to this one a few times I think I give the edge to 5/21. This is phenomenal and the pinch harmonics are amazing but I like 5/21 for the stream of consciousness Jerry solo. This one should in theory have a more evocative solo but 5/21 just does it for me. Will have to continue to revisit
Bird Song
Sept. 17, 1972
Baltimore Civic Center
How is this not even top 5? This is without a doubt probably the best "BAM" (lol) in bird song history-- Veneta has the cleaner, sweeter melody but this one's got the louder, more abrupt entry.

I get that sylvan, not an unfounded complaint. Maybe a good compromise would be to post non-dead stuff in the comments of joke submissions-- i.e. blow away 8/27/72 or picasso moon 5/8/77 as to not dilute actual dead commentary.
