Samson and Delilah

Great opener to a powerhouse second set.

This was the version that got me nicknamed, "Sampson Guy" because I called it as a second set opener and proceeded to go apeshit when they played it.

Bruce's return is marked by a monster show in Greensboro. This Cassidy is well worth a listen.

Bird Song
Oct. 22, 1989
Charlotte Coliseum

I have to say, this Bird Song was a real bummer. There are marvelous soundboards available where you can hear the band attempt a build up the jam, and then just collectively shrug their shoulders upon realizing the muse has fled.
Scarlet Begonias
June 28, 1974
Boston Garden

Might be the first Sugar>Scarlet. Jerry's solos on the transition are otherworldly.
Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain
March 27, 1988
Hampton Coliseum

This should be ranked higher. The rhythm section rises up during this Fire and just eats the audience.
Playin' In The Band
Oct. 16, 1989
Meadowlands Arena

I've never seen or felt so much unity in an audience, as I did this night when Bobby stepped up the mic and sang, "Standing on a tower" The drummers just about wreck their trap set. The reprise to end the second set is a giant exclamation point on one intense musical experience.
Brown Eyed Women
Nov. 4, 1977
Cotterell Gym - Colgate University

Jerry brings a chaotic aggressiveness to his playing, yet somehow pulls off a near flawless technical performance on this version that sets it apart from any other version I've heard. The spring tour had some solid B.E.W. but this version shames anything from that tour. You know its good when Jerry ends the song, proudly proclaiming, "Yes it does."
