Latest Dave’s Version is solid. Slower than some versions but very bluesy and Pig is at his best

Interesting song and show. Not a good recording and not the best show but worth a listen. Honky Tonk Women? From NFA on, it sounds like the Dead.

Big River
Sept. 27, 1972
Stanley Theatre

why is 9/27/72 here twice and 9/21/72 not here? I think this is a mistake. 9/21 is a completely underrated show. 9/27 is very good but also very well known.
Jack Straw
Sept. 21, 1972
The Spectrum

I agree. A very solid version. Maybe not the best but I thought it would be closer to the top. I think 72 is probably the year for Jack Straw. This is a very good show, Keith's piano playing is beautiful.

I agree that this is the best. Englishtown may (or may not, depends on the day) be my favorite show but for me Englishtown is all about the second set.
St. Stephen
May 21, 1977
Lakeland Civic Center

Great show that hardly gets mentioned. When I was younger and thinner, I had a great tape of this show that found its way to my player and my ears many, many times. This St Stephen can't be taken on its own, it is the whole St Stephen -> NFA -> St Stephen that sizzles. Just now, I meant to put on May 9, Buffalo and accidentally put on Lakeland, and I am not disappointed. Great energy and groove. Comes a Time led into this beautifully.
Cumberland Blues

Taken together, Candyman-> Cumberland must be the best of each. I think the only reason they aren’t is that Candyman is so short. This one is still the best, IMO.
