Turn On Your Love Light
Jan. 23, 1970
Honolulu Civic Auditorium

Another great 1970 Lovelight, if you don’t know this show, spin it. Very mellow island vibe, great Lovelight to close.

Turn On Your Love Light

The Warehouse

Very surprised this one is not listed, 38 Mins, one of the longest. Jerry slide solos, Peter Green wailing, and of course Pigpen at his peak.

The Eleven

Oregon State University

The classic Live Dead sequence with my new favorite “The Eleven”, just a little more controlled, in a laid back, non-frenzied pace. Give it a listen.

Dark Star

Oregon State University

Surprised this version is not on the list the classic Live Dead sequence all very well played. This 20 min. DS has a short early Feeling Groovy Jam.

Darkness Jam

Santa Rosa Fairgrounds

Also out of GDTR, (which is very mellow), this is a very nice, (again short), Darkness Jam. I just love this melody.

Jack Straw
Oct. 17, 1978
Winterland Arena

Good call CrackStraw, (if that’s your REAL name), very fine version. I always like the 1st set closer position for a smokin’ Jack Straw. Can’t decide if I like this one over the 10-22-78 version (RT Vol. 1 No. 4), can’t go wrong with most ’78 Jack Straws.

The Spectrum

Ya this one rocks, Phil is clearly on-point throughout. Good call DarkStar transitive axis, this version should have a least a few more votes, RT No. 1 Vol 1 and the Full shows from The Spectrum. Weir is very low in these mixes, almost criminal since he adds so much to this song. Love when Garcia emphatically sings the final verses, he belts these out with gusto.

Richmond Coliseum

If I only had one vote, this version would be it. The “Wait a minute…. “ stops are classic “Bobby Rock Star” moments, I grin every time I hear it, Garcia last solo isn’t too shabby either. Dick’s Picks Vol. 21, so you should know this version, if you need to listen again, do so, but vote either way.
China Cat Sunflower -> I Know You Rider
Oct. 28, 1979
Cape Cod Coliseum

How does this version only have 1 vote? The transition jam is very nice and the Rider flat out rocks, major Phil Bombs. Give it a listen and vote.
The Music Never Stopped
Oct. 1, 1977
Paramount Theatre

Very hot version, top 2 or 3 from ’77, (’78 being my favorite year). Love how they seem to finish the closing jam, but then continue on for a couple more bars.
