Very nice outtro jam, 9+ mins, almost reaching mammoth proportions on its way to what we thought would be a monstrous Other One, never quite got there

They totally screw up the lyrics, but once they hit “Get back Truckin’ On” wow it rocks, the first peak is very powerful, then a second peak.

You can’t go wrong with any Half-Step from the fall of ’77, this version is on Road Trips Vol.1 No 2, give it a listen and vote, should be in the top ten.

To me the middle bridge is what makes this the superior version over Binghamton and Boston. Having such a great song in the middle of the set also was a treat, we were settled into our spot, right side of the Soundboard, inside the tower speakers and I had found a milk crate to stand on. When jerry caught that rift, the whole audience, 250,000 of us, paid attention and then it just soars. Any of the top three are great versions and it is fun debating which one deserves more votes, (I voted for all three) and Mississippi Half-Step is always a great song to turn someone on to the Dead.

I do give a slight nod to Englishtown, but Binghamton is a very close second. I saw them both and this Binghamton version laid the groundwork for an amazing show to follow. You can’t go wrong with any of the top three, “Across the Rio Gandeeo”

Glad this one is on the list, now it needs more votes. Give it a listen you will not be disappointed. All the Stella Blues that I heard in the Fall of ’79 were outstanding, Augusta, New Haven, Nassau and this version from Madison Square Garden. Garcia sings this version very precisely and on point without any real flair, but very sweet indeed. The closing jam builds very nicely, Jerry starts a fanning run early, makes Tiger cry and then continues to build, no amazing climax, but still very well played and satisfying.

Great version, but in the same vein as a lot of pre-retirement versions, infectious jamming, but lacks the explosiveness, the peaks that blows you away like the ’77-’80 versions, I’d still vote for both Binghamton versions ’77 & ’79 and Alligator Alley ’80 over this one.
