Worth checking out. You have to listen to the whole thing. There was something about these standalone Franklins that hit the spot. There was something in these '78 versions that wasn't quite there in '77, however, there are some flub in there, so you can't take it with you to the desert island.

I've come to appreciate these stand-alones from '78. This is worth checking out.

I love the part where Townshend sneaks onstage and rips that killer Tower riff at 2:56. He was always a surly bastard.

I can't really vote for this one, but I will say this about the show as a whole - it grew on me. Even the Truckin' chorus transition mishap occurs consistently on both choruses, so I've gotten used to the off timing. What I like about this show is the sound. The amps, instrumental separation, and Jerry's guitar tone and volume throughout makes a unique show for me. I wish it were longer. It's an Eyes Of The World / Wharf Rat / Morning Dew short of being a truly awesome affair.

If I could have only one, this would be it. As others have astutely noted, everyone looks to the Dews for different things. For me, it's the Keith / Jerry interplay that LRosley and others mentioned. It's incredible and unique to this version. There are several others I like a lot (Ladies & Gentlemen, Movie Soundtrack, Cow Palace New Years '76), but this is my keeper. With regard to Cornell, I listened to it severalal times next to 5/22/77 and 6/7/77, and I thought they were all pretty close to one another. The Cornell version may have a little more bombast at the end, but they were otherwise all comparable . I will revisit 77 again after it's officially released.
