Jerry sinks his teeth into this jam. A wonder to behold.

Arguably the version in which Bobby forgot the fewest lyrics. Also great, imaginative playing by Jerry throughout.

From the cold depths of 1985 comes a truly great MSWS. Drums are tight, Phil and Bobby sound great, and Jerry repeatedly comes up with gold.

Bobby high in the mix; great guitar-Brent interplay

Bird Songs started to get longer around this time and that's not a bad thing. Listen to what Bobby plays starting at 7:32

The beginning of the solo is an all-time great Garcia phrase, with hesitations and syncopations leading to a perfect question mark. Everything about the rest of it is great too, including what he can't play.

Community War Memorial Auditorium

Jerry does everything he possibly can at the moment in this tune

It's a good bet something interesting will happen when Jerry fucks up the first line of a song. The rest of the singing is deep and intense. Brilliant solos too.

Weird how Jerry pushes the tempo and plays power chords when he's frustrated. Fortunately Phil and the drummers keep up with him and there are so nasty-ass power chords and riffs here. Worth a listen.

Burning, desperate solo. Love it when Jerry plays with rage like this. Probably because Bob really effed him when they went into Miracle at the end of Stella Blue.
