Eyes Of The World
Aug. 10, 1982
Iowa Fieldhouse - University of Iowa
This is one of the best shows of the 80s and one of the best Eyes of the 80s, too. But it's still too fast.
Black Peter
Dec. 1, 1979
Stanley Theater
The intensity of emotions through the set ending NFA > Peter > Sugar representing Love > Death > Celebration is one of the things that the Dead were perfect at when they were locked in. This show and in particular that run of songs is definitely locked in tight. All three of those songs are super intense in totally different ways. That's what I want to have played at my funeral.
One More Saturday Night
Dec. 28, 1991
Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Stadium
A neat idea and cool for the novelty, but the transitions both out of and back into OMSN were botched and clunky (i.e. unrehearsed and it shows...).
Tennessee Jed
May 1, 1981
Hampton Coliseum
I've always really liked this one. High energy lead in to the raucous Let It Grow > Deal set closer.
Hell in a Bucket
Oct. 19, 1989
The Spectrum
After a relatively low energy show on the 18th (I think they may have been a little shell-shocked & distracted by news of the earthquake on the 17th), we walked in to this show at the start of Bucket and you could tell the energy level was through the roof compared to the prior night.
