Very intense version in a bluesy second set.

Touch of Grey

Greek Theatre, U. Of California

The Scarlet > Touch > Fire sequence is one of the quintessential moments of the Brent era. The Touch arrangement is very loose and off-the-cuff and crackling with energy. Definitely one of my favorites.
Help On The Way > Slipknot > Franklin's Tower
Sept. 2, 1983
Boise Pavilion - Boise State University

Honestly, the 83-85 Help>Slipknots really don't hold a candle to the 70s versions or even 89-91 versions. There are often a lot of vocal screwups (c'mon, Jerry, it's a bust out, at least get the words right...). This one isn't the train wreck that Hampton or others are, but there are far better versions of this, too. With that said, this show is terrific in general. Especially in the first set (i.e. WDD>Jack, B-E Women, Big RR, etc.), but Estimated>Eyes, GDTRFB, Black Peter, and S Mag as well, too.
Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain
Sept. 13, 1993
The Spectrum

I agree, IKYR. This is actually the show that convinced me I never needed to see another one again. When Scarlet>Fire>Playin>Dark Star>Terrapin never rises above "meh, OK", what's the point? The first show of this run (the 12th) was objectively terrible. It was the only show I ever saw where I was thinking "maybe the next song will be better" and it never was, then this one with that setlist was only OK, I decided this was it for me. The 14th was a teary goodbye and that was that. Never went back, and never heard anything that made me regret it, either.

Just a shout out on Friday the 13th to the greatest Friday the 13th show ever.
Estimated Prophet
Oct. 15, 1989
Meadowlands Arena

This whole second set is highly underrated. Estimated and Eyes are both as good as it gets for late 80s arrangements, Stella Blue is my personal favorite melting out of space, and Throw > Away is very high energy. Even Just A Little Light is extra crisp in this one.
