Friend of the Devil
April 19, 1978
Veterans Memorial Auditorium

This FotD is a beauty. The vocals are sweet, and the solos flow like butter; just amazing.

Sitting on Top of the World
March 24, 1988
Omni Coliseum

This was soundchecked at a show sometime in ‘88; this date may not be accurate. Look for the “GD Home Movies” video on YouTube from LoloYodel

Throwing Stones
Sept. 5, 1989
Hartford Civic Center

Opening for JGB w/ Rob Wasserman. Very good acoustic version with great vocals from Bob.

The Harder They Come
Aug. 29, 1987
French's Camp

This is probably the best one I’ve heard JGB do. Jerry’s vocals are superb, almost 78 like. The jam in the middle is essential.

Oh Babe It Ain't No Lie
Dec. 6, 1980
Mill Valley Recreation Center

Not played since the Warfield/RCMH run, and it shows a little, but overall it’s still pretty good

Let Me Sing Your Blues Away
Sept. 8, 1973
Nassau Coliseum

Great version! Gonna be on Dave’s Picks 38; the first live version officially released?
Dark Star
Nov. 15, 1971
The Austin Municipal Auditorium

This version is exceptional! The first part before El Paso is nicely played and jammed out, and the seamless transition into El Paso is something only the Dead could do! The El Paso is very good; one of my favorites of Bobby’s “cowboy songs.” The Dark Star jam after it scared me the first time I listened to it, which is a win in my books.
Eyes Of The World
June 10, 1973
RFK Stadium

This is probably my favorite Eyes. The opening notes with Garcia’s lush tone, Phil’s bass, and Billy’s drums always get me. It’s nice and long and jammed out. Great version!
Eyes Of The World
June 17, 1991
Giants Stadium

I remember when I was first getting into the Dead I would play this version a lot once I got into their live stuff. This version is really great. This, in my opinion, is one of my favorite eras because of Vince and Bruce. They both play so nicely, and the sound was very full. Overall, this is a very good Eyes. Glad they started playing it slower!
Cryptical Envelopment
June 16, 1985
Greek Theater

Bust-Outs are always fun(imho) and this Cryptical is great. Wish they jammed them out, but having it sandwiched with Drums>Space>The Other One from this era is nice.
