Friend of the Devil
April 19, 1978
Veterans Memorial Auditorium

This FotD is a beauty. The vocals are sweet, and the solos flow like butter; just amazing.

Sitting on Top of the World
March 24, 1988
Omni Coliseum

This was soundchecked at a show sometime in ‘88; this date may not be accurate. Look for the “GD Home Movies” video on YouTube from LoloYodel

Hartford Civic Center

Opening for JGB w/ Rob Wasserman. Very good acoustic version with great vocals from Bob.

The Harder They Come
Aug. 29, 1987
French's Camp

This is probably the best one I’ve heard JGB do. Jerry’s vocals are superb, almost 78 like. The jam in the middle is essential.

Oh Babe It Ain't No Lie
Dec. 6, 1980
Mill Valley Recreation Center

Not played since the Warfield/RCMH run, and it shows a little, but overall it’s still pretty good

Me and My Uncle

Springfield Civic Center

It’s the first one since ‘74, and it’s really good. That extended Bobby intro is sublime
Row Jimmy
March 26, 1987
Hartford Civic Center

I’m gonna relisten to this and the 27th(DaP 36). These later-day versions of Row Jimmy are spectacular. Jerry isn’t using his slide anymore, instead opting for a more echoey and ethereal solo, which works perfectly. I also noticed Brent’s keyboards towards the latter half seem to take on the tone they did in the mid-eighties, which he was abandoning after Jerry came back. Great version!
Standing On The Moon
Sept. 16, 1990
Madison Square Garden

Yeah this one might be my favorite. Jerry’s vocals seem a little rough, but they’re so soulful, and combined with Brent’s recent passing make this one truly heart wrenching. Also lots of Jerry ballads in this set, He’s Gone, SOTM, Dew. Love the spacey jams in this one too
Touch of Grey
Sept. 17, 1982
Cumberland County Civic Center

This one is a beast, especially considering it’s only the second one ever played. The lyrics are shuffled a bit and the instrumentation is different from how it would be released on In The Dark. The groove though is infectious. What makes this even more great is the upcoming Hunter Seamons matrix of this show. Very excited, very good
Spanish Jam
June 26, 1974
Providence Civic Center

This one is great. Been trying to listen to more Spanish Jams recently, and this one is by far one of the best I’ve heard. They constantly flirt with The Other One; Phil especially. Around the 6 minute mark Phil tries to coax everyone by playing the intro, and Bobby teases him, sending the band into deep space for a while. Great version!
