This a JGB version. This one always gets me emotional. One of the best R&Cs ever performed. Jerry’s voice!

Great version. Love Jerry’s MIDI effects on this, and Bruce and Vince kill it. Great video of the show from Shakedown Stream.

Dark Star
Feb. 18, 1971
Capitol Theater
Though the usual Dark Star portions aren’t the best I’ve heard(see 8/27/72, 11/11 & 12/6/73, 10/18/74 etc), and the Wharf Rat, while great, can get rocky, the Beautiful Jam is otherworldly. This ranks up their with my favorite moments from any Dead show ever. Anytime they do spontaneous jams like this, they always seem to turn out just exactly perfect.

I can’t decide whether I’d call this a DS jam or a WF jam. Bob is definitely playing WF in the beginning, but Jerry and Bill are very obliviously flirting with DS. The transitions are beautiful, and Jerry’s playing reminds me a lot of 9/21/72’s Dark Star. Great version

The opening phrases on this one are really unique and fun. Everyone’s playing great, which makes up for Jerry’s lyric flubs

This show doesn’t have a Bird Song, but the night before does
Feel Like A Stranger

Hampton Coliseum
This one is crazy. Been on a Stranger kick for a few days, and this one checks all the boxes. Jerry’s tone is hot, and Bob’s vocals are good too. Brents embellishments throughout are tasty as well. The jam in this one is insane, everyone is firing on all cylinders. Bob’s playing especially is killer. The audience source is great too, very open while still being able to hear everyone. The Miller/Clugston upgrade is the one to go for. This one rivals 4/20/84(DaP 35) for being my favorite. Great version!
