Tennessee Jed
Jan. 22, 1978
McArthur Court, U of Oregon
This, like Peggy O and some other Jerry tunes from this show, is overrated because of the show's rep. This is painful to listen to. Vocals matter on some songs and no the strained vocals don't make it more soulful.
China Cat Sunflower -> I Know You Rider
Oct. 30, 1973
Kiel Auditorium
I don't notice FG as much in 73 as 74. It's more just kind of there sometimes in 73. But this one is nice and big with, as pointed out, a lengthy lead-up. Rider is strong to quite strong here.
Playin' In The Band

Fall 72 is the peak (and I'd put it up there with any Dead song peaks, just one incredible version after another), but 73 is damn good too even into the Fall. 11/9 is one of the best. 12/2 and DP1 obviously. 12/12 is a sleeper.
Casey Jones

Fall 73: Even the Casey Jones catches your ear amirite. I need to revisit this version/show don't remember it, but I listened to 11/20 today and sure enough that has a pretty nice Casey closing the first set.
