One of the more languid takes on this one. Although Jerry's voice is shot, it works. Notable for 2 runs through the solo, both of them stellar.

Explosive jam makes this one a bit unique. Not as smooth and complex as some later versions, but synergy and chops by all.

Smokes from head to tail. No SBD, or this would be top 5 with ease.

I fully expect this one to rise in popularity once the BBD arrives.

Nice AUD has Jerry up front. Great solo in SB, transition is interesting, with nice cascading riffs, followed by a Hot FOTM.

Hear! Hear!! Great solo in Scarlet, very good transition jam, the Fire has Jerome buzz sawing away. Great closing jam that features a really speedy ascending jam prior to the traditional descending riffing. Listen up! Like the man (and your dad) said.

Superior execution compared to the version from 11/18/78, which is listed twice and has 2 and 4 votes. best of all time? hardly, but I think it's the best of the month. Jerry gets shreddy early in FOTM.

"absolutely interesting things during the Fire jams" Like what? Nod out for the last 5 minutes of FOTM? Then Yeah, really cool. Thank goodness for Bruce, who takes a nice solo in the Second Fire jam.

I think this one has the best scarlet solo of the month. The scarlet is well played, smooth transition into fire. Great crunchy solo in fire, and love Bobby harnessing the feed back to great effect. I don't feel the closing jam is all that hot in context of the month.

Objective experiment... Great idea! I took the 8 scarlet>fires from May 77, labeled them 1 through 8 for anonymity. cued up the scarlet solo, fire solo and the closing jam of fire. Listened to them and graded them on a star system. 4x each.... Then listened to them in their entirety 3x. All I'll say is this one can't hide.
