The jam at the end goes on for a good long time, and Garcia really builds up the feeling. Pity the rest of the show - my last - was pretty bad.

Truckin'
Oct. 9, 1982
Frost Amphitheatre

Whereas most versions from this period depend on bombast, this is a fairly well-explored take. Classic sequence of Truckin>O1>Dew.

Awesome, eneretic version. The "big-7" ensemble really gets a chance to shine on this one. BH adds vocals.

A nice long version: urgent as always, but there is a certain sense of relaxed pace to it.

One More Saturday Night

Recreation Hall - University of California

Great placement: first song of the set, since they'd forgotten to play it the night before.

Eyes Of The World

Raceway Park

My favorite of the 77-79 style. Gorgeous solos by JG. Band in top form.
Help On The Way > Slipknot > Franklin's Tower

Sam Boyd Silver Bowl

Nice long version from a solid second set.
Blues For Allah
March 23, 1975
Kezar Stadium

This whole show is one big jam, and worth checking out. Transition from Blues for Allah to Stronger than Dirt is superb.

Barton Hall - Cornell University

Maybe you've heard of it, and think it's overrated. (I did for a long time). But listen to it: it's not. Maybe you prefer the softer 72-74 versions (as I do), and think this lacks subtlety. It does not. Whatever you think about Cornell 77, it cannot be denied that this is a truly titanic version. Essential listening.
China Cat Sunflower -> I Know You Rider
May 26, 1973
Kezar Stadium

I remember being in a car and listening to this: when they hit the as-yet undeveloped D-key jam in the middle, and sort of hang in the air I felt like this was about as good as it could get. Superior version, and always my favorite.
