UPtempo and full of piss and vinegar, just how I like them.

I think it works well within the suite it is performed and, yes, Jerry's chords around the 6:30 mark are probably the closest they ever got to sounding like the Sex Pistols, but Phil purrs the intro like a kitten and the improv leading up to the aforementioned chords doesn't do a lot for me. The segue into Stella is very nice, however.

@grendel - My sincere condolences on your doggo, good sir. Just recently found this site and have thoroughly enjoyed reading your reviews and have kinda looked to you for guidance. (I agree with you far more often than not :-)) I had Terrapin>Drums>TOO>Space>Stephen as filler on Side B of a Phish show (11/15/95, 1st set, my 1st show) and didn't even listen to it for at least a year (I've mentioned in my review of 10/2/77's Scarlet/Fire that my transition from Phish phan to Deadhead was, unfortunately, a long and arduous process). Relistened to this bit again today. One of my favorite Garcia solo/space segments I've had the pleasure of hearing (5/11/77 Uncle John's>Space is mighty nice too).
Playin' In The Band

This was among my first and favorite Dead tapes that I acquired circa '96-'97. It was this on one side of a 100 min. Maxell XLII and a segment of one of the acoustic sets at Radio City in '80. Not my favorite Playin' but a hell of a good time, especially when things get funky and Weather Report-ish with Keith on the Rhodes around the 30 min. mark.

I LOVE the gnarly pre-Space space this goes into for the last few minutes before Drums. Nothing mindblowing but a little surprised this is so low.

Sheeesh, I kept scrolling to find this nugget tucked all the way down here. Give it a listen and give it some love, it's plenty exploratory and has a fantastic segue into an equally awesome Eyes!
