Greatest Story Ever Told
Sept. 9, 1987
Civic Center

Great high energy version that leads into a spontaneous, first-ever "Devil With the Blue Dress > Good Golly Miss Molly"

Truckin'

Academy of Music

A more uptempo version where the band really gels nicely. You can hear Pigpen's organ shining on it, which is often lost in the mix.

Dark Star

Yasgur's Farm

Jerry said it was the worst show they ever did. It's sloppy, but the Dark Star is trippy as hell. Mellow, groovy and Tom's organ really shines.

One More Saturday Night

Denver Coliseum

Bobby's singing is WILD on this one. Most rocking version I've heard!
Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain

The Scope

Hot damn, this one is fantastic. The transition gets really far out there, and Jerry is in particularly good voice.
Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain
Jan. 8, 1979
Madison Square Garden

I had never heard of this show, and normally would never be tempted to look since I usually avoid both audience recordings and early 1979 shows, but after seeing Charlie Miller call it his favourite show in his Reddit AMA, I knew I had to give it a listen. And WOW. This one just smokes. Has a mellow vibe, but still so much creativity throughout, especially from Jerry whose leads are just beautiful. It has a really transcendent peak in the transition to when Donna starts singing, probably the best I've ever heard her sound on these songs. Would love to here a SBD version one day, but the recording that exists, especially the remaster by Charlie Miller, is excellent. Can't recommend this one enough; deserves to be so much higher.
Mississippi Halfstep Uptown Toodeloo

The Spectrum

This one is pretty heavy. Real rocking. I love it. Definitely my favourite version.
Sugar Magnolia
March 22, 1990
Copps Coliseum

The transition into this is incredible. This is seriously an amazing show and one of the most lively versions of Sugar Mags.
