The Eleven
Feb. 24, 1968
Kings Beach Bowl
RAGING. 'nuff said. Goes into 'Drums', then 'Alligator', and can be found on 'Dick's Picks Vol. 22'.

Two Souls in Communion
April 26, 1972
Jahrhunderthalle
C'mon, this is SURELY the definitive version?! Pigpen is so strong yet so poignantly vulnerable in this cut, with perfect fills from Jerry and Bill.

Morning Dew
Aug. 24, 1968
Shrine Auditorium
Intense stuff; brisk but heartfelt. Real acid rock. The venue people cut off the power at the end, but 'til then, it's still 7 great minutes.

Turn On Your Love Light
Jan. 26, 1969
Avalon Ballroom
I know Deadheads try to prove themselves by choosing more obscure versions, but the 'Live/Dead' version is EASILY in the Top 5 'Love Lights' ever.

Me and My Uncle
Aug. 6, 1971
Hollywood Palladium
An inspired sandwich, with a seamless segue into "MAMU". And Jerry's on fire throughout - hell, his guitar was incandescent that night. 6 Aug saw a great "Loser", a very solid "St. Stephen", a killer "Mr. Charlie", and the greatest "Hard to Handle" by anyone ever.
Brokedown Palace
April 11, 1972
Newcastle City Hall
Beautiful. A fitting end to one of their best official releases so far - 'Steppin' Out with the Grateful Dead: England '72'.
Turn On Your Love Light
May 7, 1972
Bickershaw Festival
Oof, this is a smoker. Superbly brisk and bright playing by Jerry all the way through. Haven't heard all the '72 "Love Lights" yet, but so far, IMHO, this is second only to the celebrated 4/26 show from Frankfurt.
Good Lovin'
May 7, 1972
Bickershaw Festival
From 'Steppin' Out', this is certainly '72's best "Good Lovin'". Fiery, consistent, compelling - better, though longer, than the 18-minute medley that was released as a bonus track on the 2011 reissue of 'Europe '72'.
Good Lovin'
April 14, 1972
Tivolis Koncertsal
Bickershaw one from the same year is more consistent and compelling, IMHO. This one's OK; some nice rapping. But most post-'70 "Good Lovin'"s that ran over 15 mins tended to push the limits of patience.
