Eyes Of The World
Feb. 24, 1973
University of Iowa
There isn't really a good place to comment on the post-Eyes jam, so I guess it makes the most sense here. The "standard" Eyes is typical of early 1973...composed, lively, and well on the way to what the song would become later in the year. The post-Eyes jam is inspired. Billy, Phil, and Jerry lock into an Other One jam that has multiple conversations before Jerry drops out, then eventually Bill as well, leaving Phil to shine. In the era of great Phil solos, this one deserves special acclaim. Playful, precise, inspired. Jerry, Bobby, and Bill join back in seamlessly and work their way into Feelin' Groovy. The rest of this music would be better captured under the Feelin' Groovy entry. Bottom line....listen to this show!
