Meh... Jerry's voice is in bad shape here. His playing is fairly good, but the breakdown into formless improvising goes on too long. What mars this performance most is the drum machines and digital FM synth. It might have seemed cutting edge in '89 but now sounds horribly dated. No way does a drum machine sound as transporting as the gongs or acoustics of 69-70! Myland also tries to take too much of the lead, whereas great Stars of lore keep it more of a guitar piece. He is just not that strong an improviser. Neither was Pigpen, who was better to provide accompanying riffs in the background.
