Brown Eyed Women

Soldiers' and Sailors' Memorial Hall

Every bit the equal of Cornell. 8/24/80 still has a better solo, but this is 1977 y'all.

Perfect, with some filthy guitar in the outro.

Scarlet Begonias

Red Rocks Ampitheatre

1984 audience only standalone Scarlet (touch) at Red Rocks. Great solo, excellent transition.

Out of Scarlet Begonias to open the second set, with some teases of the song in the transition.

Darkness Jam
Nov. 2, 1979
Nassau Coliseum

This was a great get, darkstar. I remember when you found this one, however long ago that was. At any rate, I had listened to this NFA, loved the version and never would have thought Darkness given how out of ordinary it was at this end of the seventies. He's a listener, children!
Wharf Rat
Aug. 2, 1976
Colt Park

Btw, this jam at the end of wharf rat is one of two extemporaneous jams in this show (might as well has one too). ’76 has a bunch of these jams, well collected in this article at deadessays: http://deadessays.blogspot.com/2018/07/the-1976-out-of-nowhere-jams.html?m=1cted

You think you'll be able to make it to the New Year's show by next week, carrion crow? That fall tour is dense and I see that there are more than a dozen shows left. Whatever happens, you're doing yeoman's work. Any ideas on next year?
Mississippi Halfstep Uptown Toodeloo
Oct. 14, 1977
Hofheinz Pavilion

This one is decent and can hang with the spring 77s, but it doesn’t match the others from the fall of 77: 9/3, 11/5 and 11/6, stuck in between them though it is. There was another fall half step that year on 10/7, but the tape of that portion of the show is nowhere to be found. Tantalizing.
Caution
Oct. 27, 1979
Cape Cod Coliseum

This guy's house is burning down, and he's out on a limb defending an early Brent Caution? It's good. And this show is a peak of a peak, so to speak. It's a nice call. Check out 5/12/80 - it's of the Bobby Sands Caution variety.
