He's Gone

Uptown Theatre

Unique section after the gospel singing. Great transition to TOO

Capital Centre

The debut, as an encore - raw, lyrics askew, fun times

The Music Never Stopped
Dec. 21, 1978
The Summit

A speedy rendition on a single extant AUD from what is IMO the golden age of TMNS. Good for 77-Feb79, but compares favorably to any MNS thereafter.

Cumberland Blues

Greek Theater

This one cooks. It’s the third one since 74, but it’s all so fluid.

Mind Left Body Jam
Sept. 6, 1979
Madison Square Garden

The transition between NFA and Stella is about a minute of MLB. Not the best, but a unique transition and tease for 1979.

Uncle John's Band

Oakland Auditorium

What a thoughtful review
The Wheel
Aug. 28, 1981
Long Beach Arena

This one is most definitely unique. It's worth hunting down. I saw the comment today and when I searched it on YouTube, a video with just the outro (the last 6:29) is one of the top hits. That was an early indication that this one is special.

I hadn't heard it. I haven't heard another one like it. Sound quality is passable, but I wouldn't mind hearing this one a bit clearer. I've followed Sharleena's advice for years now and I've never been let down.
Deal
May 1, 1981
Hampton Coliseum

The new JGB release has some filler tracks from 6/1/81 and there is a Deal that is related to this one. It’s not as great as 5/1, but you will recognize the tone and an aggressiveness that it shares. I know that JGB Deal from 89-91 is highly esteemed and these two Deals, along with 11/30/80 are where it all began. I do not think that 5/1 can be beat and I love Deal in different eras and with different personnel. There is no outro solo prior to September 1980 and that makes it difficult to compare those two eras but the shredding started here.
Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain
April 3, 1982
The Scope

This one is great for this time of year. The Seaweed soundboard makes the whole version sound great but the transition is really where this version shines. It's one idea after another and in that respect it is like a sonic springtime bursting forth
