Feelin' Groovy Jam
Feb. 24, 1973
University of Iowa
This one emerges from a Phil solo. There are only two fragments of this show on the archive.

Brother Esau
June 23, 1984
City Island
Sometimes hard to tell one from another. But whatever. This one is good. It's from City Island, which should have been a cool spot to watch a show.

It's All Over Now Baby Blue
Aug. 14, 1981
Seattle Center Coliseum
Strike another match, go start anew: First one in 7 years. Sweet and slow, like the dozens to follow in the 80s and 90s.

Mississippi Halfstep Uptown Toodeloo
Aug. 19, 1980
Uptown Theatre
Yeah, too bad about the sound. I listened with headphones to CM and the right channel was fading in and out at times, and at others the mix is off. But there is clearly a great version of halfstep hiding down there and I will listen to this one again. It's a pretty inspired halfstep for one that exists outside of the '76-'78 window. And you're right - we have an embarrassment of riches at our disposal every day. I can live with these problems.
Franklin's Tower
March 19, 1977
Winterland Arena
I just listened to the new transfer of this show and this Franklin's is the climax of this amazing set 2. And the climax of this Franklin's is the solo that Jerry is playing on either side of the 10:00 mark and it is blistering. It all comes together here - great sound, great playing.
The Music Never Stopped
Dec. 27, 1978
Golden Hall, Community Concourse
The Darst SBD is the best available source, not the linked one. But if you can get this one up real loud, I'll wager that you will hear what I did - an MNS that belongs in the conversation for top 5. Four votes certainly doesn't make sense.
Mississippi Halfstep Uptown Toodeloo
Sept. 24, 1973
Civic Arena
I took a little Halfstep trip through the years this morning at your instigation, starting with this early one. It was a bit of a pop single with every element sounding pure and no need to stretch anything out at this point because it really is a beautiful song. Then I listened to that Orpheum one you just posted and I will head over and vote that up - you can hear the 77 half steps emerging from that 76 setup. I finished with what I think is one of the top 10 halfsteps on 12/30/77. It's only got 4 votes and yours is one of them, Darkstar. But put those headphones on and listen to that brief outro that Jerry completely smokes.

This one comes after a series of rock numbers and brings the show down to its own speed.
