Stadt Halle

Incendiary second solo becomes delicate and beautiful before they build the final refrain.

You can't compare 70s Deals w/ late 1980 onward. There's a four minute shredded 2nd solo on this one that wasn't a part of Deal in its 1st decade.

This is the first one with the second solo, revamped for the 15th anniversary.

Mississippi Halfstep Uptown Toodeloo

Madison Square Garden

Pre rio grandeo is good, but there are two peaks post rio grandeo, one built off the other and the latter crashes into Franklin's Tower.

Stella Blue

Civic Center

A fluttery and lyrical solo after the bridge and then an autobiography of an outro. There is a video on YouTube.

The Music Never Stopped
Dec. 7, 1981
Des Moines Civic Center

A+. Bobby blows some lyrics, Jerry misses the transition from midsection to outro, but this one is AUD only, so you're probably not listening for album-ready polish anyway. This one has a fantastic midsection and a one-of-a-kind fireworks finish to the outro.

A substantial show opener with a big midsection.

Color video on YT. Jerry-Bobby interaction during the outro leads to some unique EP moments. The ensuing shakedown is pretty nasty too.

I like this version, but I'm on an MNS bender right now and I would probably put this in top 25-50 range, to get all real about it. The lyrics are well done (a vocal flub at the beginning of one verse is reversed at the beginning of the next - sun honey / cool breeze Tuesday - and that's a nice touch). But the midsection, spacey and fevered, is yet played elsewhere with more focus and direction and the outro certainly gets shredded harder. I'd still rather listen to this than do a million other things though.

The outro begins with some dissonant stuff even for this section of Cassidy which usually features it. But the end of the outro is truly special - something for anyone who likes the song to hear.
