Caution
May 12, 1980
Boston Garden

This is a pretty intense early 80s-style Caution jam. I was surprised to find this just now.

The Music Never Stopped
Dec. 1, 1979
Stanley Theater

A unique beginning with nice peaks to both the mid jam and the outro.

Mississippi Halfstep Uptown Toodeloo
Feb. 4, 1979
Dane County Coliseum

The final Keith and Donna Half Step stands up well, even though there's one lonely AUD.

Mississippi Halfstep Uptown Toodeloo
May 11, 1979
Billerica Forum

An early Brent Mydland Half Step with electric piano pre rio grandeo and a joyful Garcia solo afterwards.

Sugaree
Oct. 18, 1978
Winterland Arena

No fanning or soaring peaks, but solo 3 (7:45-12:45 on CM's SBD) is a new favorite - sublime, mellow, laid back.

Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain
Jan. 17, 1979
New Haven Coliseum

1) Excellent FOTM; 2) short, but decent transition; 3) ho-hummy Scarlet Begonias.
Eyes Of The World
March 19, 1977
Winterland Arena

This is way better than 8 votes, with crisp, fluent solos and a Jerry-led space section a la the 5/22 Eyes>Wharf Rat transition on DP3. This Eyes is the set 2 opener and it goes into Dancin in the streets.
Let It Grow
Sept. 2, 1979
Augusta Civic Center

This one is an anomaly. I want to love this version deeply - fall 79 is a favorite, but, as long as it is, it is just as meandering. I have to be in the right state of mind for this one - but I do keep pulling it out. This one is kind of like the 11/5/79 Eyes for me. It's art, for sure, but not something I always want to hear.
The Other One
Jan. 20, 1979
Shea's Theater

The jam out of space back into TOO is quintessential Grateful Dead music. Sometimes posters list sequences but there's no tie that binds - it's just a nice series. Glynparson is on to it here - you need to hear the whole bunch together.
Dark Star
Jan. 20, 1979
Shea's Theater

Not the greatest ever or anything, but check out that liquid transition from TOO.
