Incendiary second solo becomes delicate and beautiful before they build the final refrain.

You can't compare 70s Deals w/ late 1980 onward. There's a four minute shredded 2nd solo on this one that wasn't a part of Deal in its 1st decade.

This is the first one with the second solo, revamped for the 15th anniversary.

Pre rio grandeo is good, but there are two peaks post rio grandeo, one built off the other and the latter crashes into Franklin's Tower.

A fluttery and lyrical solo after the bridge and then an autobiography of an outro. There is a video on YouTube.

Testify! A speedy, fluent outro eventually hits a great peak.

The first solo is unreal, a slow burn to a thunderous conclusion. I put this one on the top of '77, which I can see is not the way most others rank it. It is nevertheless clearly on par with the spring '77 Sugarees which most would agree was a consistently excellent period for the song.

The aud for this one might as well be a different song. The sounds that are most prevalent to the listener here evoke all the things to go with the feeling of being in the crowd and that sense is not there with the board. A good call, as usual.

Hampton must have been a great place to tape. I know you like that Jim Wise 5/1/81 AUD and I do too - it's a great tape. That is one example where the AUD is clearly better than the corresponding SBD. I'll dig deep into this Cobo AUD tomorrow.

I missed this the couple of other times you posted on it. The tease is excellent - clear as a bell, but they never leave NFA. I listened to the FM Sbd (https://archive.org/details/gd1976-10-03.fmsbd.jerugim.248.shnf/gd76-10-03iipt07.shn), but I will give this another listen tomorrow on a run and I'll try that aud.
