Feelin' Groovy Jam
Feb. 24, 1973
University of Iowa
This one emerges from a Phil solo. There are only two fragments of this show on the archive.

Brother Esau
June 23, 1984
City Island
Sometimes hard to tell one from another. But whatever. This one is good. It's from City Island, which should have been a cool spot to watch a show.

There is some magic post rio grandeo.

It's All Over Now Baby Blue
Aug. 14, 1981
Seattle Center Coliseum
Strike another match, go start anew: First one in 7 years. Sweet and slow, like the dozens to follow in the 80s and 90s.

The Music Never Stopped
May 16, 1978
Uptown Theater
This one has a great mid-jam and the transition is smooth. The outro picks up steam and Jerry fans away at a peak twice. This show has a partial SBD, but this is in the AUD portion of the show and I was not totally impressed with the fidelity of what I heard. Still a nice version.
Mississippi Halfstep Uptown Toodeloo
May 17, 1978
Uptown Theater
I'll give this a second vote - not because it's as good as a '77, but because of the loping, rolling guitar stuff pre rio grandeo. I wouldn't mind any of the rio grandeo section happening as background music to my daily life.
Franklin's Tower
May 17, 1978
Uptown Theater
Each solo is a novel take on the song on this first halfstep>Franklin's opener. There are hiccups, but a pretty epic second song of the night too. This will stack up well against easily better than 75+% of the other stand-alones.
Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain
July 15, 1988
Greek Theatre, U. Of California
The Fire is the story here - every break has something fluent and crazy. The Scarlet is ok, but that didn't send me here.
Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain
Nov. 30, 1979
Stanley Theater
Jerry goes back to the bridge mistakenly after the first solo break – which is the better break of the two. The transition is fiery, but my favorite element has to be Brent's sound right as FOTM starts. The Fire is short a verse, but both breaks are perfectly solid. Jerry usually lands on his feet like a cat when a mistake is made and he does here.
