Weather Report Suite
Sept. 11, 1973
William and Mary College Hall

Surprised this isn't listed yet. This version is by far the best with the horns, with Jerry and Martin really getting into it with some fiery leads!

Cryptical Envelopment
June 5, 1969
Fillmore West

Monster reprise, one of the longest and best ever.

Scarlet Begonias
Aug. 6, 1974
Roosevelt Stadium

Unusual and fiery version making up the meat of an otherworldly Playin' sandwich.

Cryptical Envelopment
March 2, 1969
Fillmore West

Without question, the best Crypt reprise ever performed. This one reaches the limits of space and time.

Scarlet Begonias
March 23, 1974
Cow Palace

First ever Scarlet Begonias. Very unusual sound with a very tentative, bluesy feel, but it's still a keeper and worth hearing for the novelty at least

Playin' In The Band

The Spectrum

Love this one! Some unique jams including a raucous tiger peak. Jerry is particularly inspired.
Playin' In The Band

Fox Theatre

Any doubters of what PITB was capable of post-hiatus (and trust me, I used to be one of them) need to hear this immediately. The incredibly jazzy improv and telepathic interplay in this version are just magical. The reprise flows and builds fantastically to a mini tiger climax, riding the main ten theme to perfection. An A+ classic version!
Playin' In The Band
Dec. 29, 1977
Winterland Arena

One of the best versions of the year, very cool jams + a nice little Phil solo at the end.
Playin' In The Band
May 4, 1977
The Palladium

The 6+ minute jam on at the end (after they space out for a while) is awesome and very unique as far as Playin's go. Gets into some serious "type 2" territory, to use a little Phish lingo.
Playin' In The Band
Feb. 26, 1977
Swing Auditorium

The jamming on the first half is especially intense. One of the very best of any year.
