Beautiful early version, but this is excellent, tight vocals has the sweet Susie thrown in like most of the great ones. Cool keyboard sound

Extremely High energy post space slot coming out of a nice spanish jam. Jerry playing in full on Jedi mode.

Althea

The Spectrum

Slow and funky with a lot of note bends like all good Althea's. A real cool mellow pace allows the funk to develop smoothly.

So Many Roads
Oct. 9, 1994
USAir Arena

Hard to believe this was really over 21 years ago. This was an absolute blow the roof off emotional blast. Jerry just moaning oh, oh, oh over and over. It is a truly special performance of one of Jerry and Roberts last great collaborations. This is a flawless and emotional performance fall 1994 has some true gem performances this is assuredly one of them. Confident keyboard work from Vince on this very fine performance. Followed by an equally confident barn burner promised land. I can still picture Jerry just pouring the emotion into this as well all went crazy. One of the best performances of this song so glad to give it a well deserved vote.
The Same Thing
Dec. 28, 1991
Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Stadium

I echo the sentiments of al those who have posted before me. This is truly a special moment in the Dead's history. Easily among their best blues excursions and the best from the Vince era. Bobby just shines as does Vince. They turned the place into a tiny smokey barroom just blazing blues. This is not just a definitive version of the song but may be the definitive moment of the post Brent Mydland Grateful Dead. Yes, it is that good.
Days Between
Dec. 19, 1994
Sports Arena

This is the version I have been searching for since I first heard this song. This one is magnificent. Haunting and mournful yet beautiful and magical. Hunter summing up the situation better than anyone else could. Jerry just delivers this one nearly flawless as nailed lyrically as any Days I have heard. The playing is gorgeous as well, a true spiritual experience. Throw on some headphones and get transported to a land of lullabies where headless horseman vanish with wild and lonely cries.
Morning Dew

Alpine Valley Music Theatre

This one is truly a cosmic treat, Jerry sings it with such passion. The playing is spacey, inventive, and unique sounding at times. This is an utterly superior Morning Dew. Jerry really gives it 100% vocally, amazing passion and some just gorgeous guitar work. This is the Dead at their most magical, wonderfully splendid. Among my all-time favorite Morning Dews and the crowd seems to absolutely love it.
Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain

Capitol Theater

+1 I have been a lurker for a long time and you can not go wrong with a grendel recommendation. The newness of the pairing brings some extra exploration and a real freshness to the transition jam, you hear many more ideas than in a latter day transition between Scarlet and FOTM. I just heard this for the first time a few days ago my friend burnt me the show from his 50th anniversary box set. It is quickly becoming one of if not my favorite pairing of the two.
