Aiko Aiko
May 11, 1991
Shoreline Amphitheatre
Bruce is boss on this one, his keys just adding color & style throughout the tune. Overlooked show & performance

Space

Veterans' Memorial Coliseum
Numerous "Lively Up Yourself" teases within this short space--follows a "He's Gone" dedicated to Bob Marley

Samson and Delilah
April 18, 1978
Civic Arena
Kicking intro out of Dancin'>Drums and into a typically raucous, rippin', 1978 Samson. You'll dig it for the into alone but the whole thing is a beast

Drums
March 2, 1992
The Omni
Heavy calypso rhythms & monstrous punctuation via The Beast make for an epic Drums out of Terrapin. 5 star stuff.

Estimated Prophet

Red Rocks Ampitheatre
In combo with the equally stunning "Eyes" to follow this is an unheralded, wah-wah Jerry-heavy, Bobby/Donna vocal gem.

Dupree's Diamond Blues
Sept. 20, 1982
Madison Square Garden
This is so much a better version than the single digits its mired in now. Brisk boppy bouncy groove and Jerry does a wah wah solo that's more fun than a barrel full of dancing bears not to mention him nailing down every dang lyric. What shame this is so low on the list. Maybe the box set'll help...meanwhile, get your ears on this gem.
Cold Rain and Snow
Oct. 12, 1983
Madison Square Garden
Seriously hopeful that the new box set with its excellent sound clean up will launch this version higher up the board. It's really better than a number of the ones above it now on the list & that includes the Augusta '84 that I submitted as well (listen to these 2 back to back and tell me objectively after that MSG really belongs below Augusta--ya can't), and whether it's #1 all time worthy is subjective of course but having loved this version forever and a day and now hearing it in its best sound reproduction i'm more convinced than ever that it's in a class of its own.
Truckin'
May 13, 1978
The Spectrum
This kind of interplay between Jer and Bob rarely happens on this tune esp. post 1974....great stuff here
Playin' In The Band
May 13, 1978
The Spectrum
Maybe it's because '78 is not known as a stand-out year for this tune, but just two votes w/mine added is puzzling! If you bypass this version--and show in general--you're missing out on a sleeper gem. Jerry does some "out of left field" riffing near the homestretch of this nicely stretched out jazz offering...w/some fittingly edgy attitude thrown in given the venue. Worth a listen or 2.
