Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain
Dec. 27, 1982
Oakland Auditorium

Seek out the CM SBD (2d set only). This is a fine combo w/Brent & Jer driving Scarlet & Phil prominent in Fire. '82 was a sweet year for S>F!

The Other One
Oct. 12, 1977
Manor Downs

Another roaring out of the gate and sustained thereafter 01 that should not be ignored. '77 had its great share & this is one of 'em. Heavy on Phil!

Brown Eyed Women
Oct. 4, 1981
Rainbow Theater

While I prefer the 1977 BEWs overall this one is excellent for its speed & precision & Jerry nailing all the lyrics w/ gusto! Don't overlook this gem!

Cold Rain and Snow
Oct. 4, 1981
Rainbow Theater

The overlooked European tour. Love Jer's voice for this song in '81.Hangs an extra vocal note or 2 on the chilly winds don't blow refrain. Great stuff

Ramble On Rose
Oct. 26, 1971
The Palestra, U. of Rochester

One of the earliest live versions ever and boy oh boy is Jerry into it. Belts out the lyrics. Quick tempo & a real joy to hear!

Queen Jane Approximately

Greek Theatre, U. Of California

Overlooked song in general....very strong version here yes!
Eyes Of The World
Feb. 15, 1973
Dane County Coliseum

Yes, run do not walk to the new Miller source. Helped me revisit this gem & I realized it's pointless to complain as I did earlier about the undeveloped outro section b/c the rest is so freaking amazing it more than makes up for it (for example the incredible 2 min. long intro in just the second time ever played!) Glorious stuff.
Aiko Aiko
Sept. 24, 1982
Carrier Dome, Syracuse U

Jerry’s voice nearly cracks in half during the last verse but he just leans into it and growls even harder....this version is freaking great
Not Fade Away
Oct. 28, 1977
Soldiers' and Sailors' Memorial Hall

If you're looking for a sleeper NFA that for some reason has been buried in the standings you've found it. Slow filthy funk groove to this one w/a jam after first verse that sounds a little different than many from this year--drives forward w/some great rhythm devil work. Patient in the pocket version that could use some ups.
Ramble On Rose
May 22, 1977
The Sportatorium

^excellent! Thx for that tip to a new source
