Jack Straw

From DP 25, Opens show at New Haven. Takes no prisoners. Extra shot of Jerry heading in bridge jam. Kinda surprised it's not on a list of 90+ Straws

Shame on me for not submitting this earlier. Insane ripper to open 2nd set; Phil OWNS this version. Pause for nothing-- Listen NOW. Thank me l8r ;-)

Winterland Arena

Latvala from "Grate" Beyond reminds of his Winterland pick: The Best. Jer rips holes in Universe; Drummers pummel; Listen to "drive me BACK" line!

Samson and Delilah

Possibly best-ever of the Brent era. Bob preaches fire & brimstone and Jerry shreds the living daylights out of every jam. Serious MUST listen version

Shakedown Street

Uptown Theater

A funk-laden but more laid-back, groovier vibe marks this excellent entry from Chicago. Notable for A+ vocals & harmonies and Bobby shines in end jam!

Thank you, sir, it's much appreciated. Thought about Beowulf for the new guy but went with Fezzik instead. Anybody want a peanut?

It is. He's part lab, part golden and sadly, we lost him a few months back to the ravages of time. He's pretty young in that avatar but he lived to be nearly 13 & he was the greatest. Can't bear to take the avatar down, even though we have a new mixed breed rescue pup. He's wonderful, but there will never be another Grendel. And yeah, black labs are pretty great.

Not as "Dead Lite" as some 90s versions can be accused of being. Don't expect any blistering runs a la 1974 or '77 but the jazz elements are strong here and Jerry goes exploring in a confident, always interesting stroll through this delightful version. +1.

Best part isn't even the Close Encounters theme, which is really very brief and not as exciting as hyped...instead it's the power chord entry on the aftermath of CE and into that opening salvo of Stephen that really makes this the show-stopper of the 2nd set.

Where's Jerry going with that bridge jam? How's he going to......oh. Oh, WOW.
