Crazy Fingers

Very strong entry w/no lyrical mistakes & Jerry in fine voice, esp. for the year. Crystal clean sound from '90 spring box set shows how good this is!

This melts like a dream from a weirdly underrated Dark Star & is sung beautifully by Jerry & played sweetly by all. Give a listen!

Help On The Way > Slipknot > Franklin's Tower

Boston Garden

Ok technically it's Help>Slipknot>Fire but c'mon that's pretty cool & even w/out the novelty of the change-up it's a sweet version

There's a Betty Board of this one available. And it's gorgeous. What's stopping you?

Franklin's Tower
Jan. 10, 1978
Shrine Auditorium

Spectacular & spectacularly underrated--this whole show. There's a Miller available beyond source provided that really should be heard & this Franklin's is just one of the many gems. (Check out the Candyman & BEW from set 1 & TOO from set two for just a couple of highlights along with this FT). I'd wager a lot of folks would bump this at least into double digits if given a listen but the show seems oddly hidden--date, maybe? Who knows, but wow, this is some good under-appreciated stuff right here.

Playin' In The Band
Oct. 2, 1977
Paramount Theatre

Flowing beauty with a mellow world of color packed into a less than 10 minute running time yet so much can be gleaned from repeated listening. Favorite part might be the quiet percussive Bill/Mickey outro that just drifts the tune out on a rhythmic wave of bliss. Love this show and this playin’ ... more of these chill, contemplative ‘77s should get some bump on the board.

Thanks Spidergawd...Grendel was a grand ol mixed lab who heard a lot of Dead in his day & I like to think it was the soundtrack of his doggo existence ... welcome to the site psyched to see/hear your recommendations too,!
Goin' Down The Road Feelin' Bad
Oct. 28, 1977
Soldiers' and Sailors' Memorial Hall

spun again & besides the blazing end jam there's an unusual opening salvo in which the main theme is given a long tease but before Garcia steps up to sing verse one he adds a couple of wicked cool mini solos...amazing how much they packed into under 8 mins. in this barn burner.
