It Must Have Been The Roses

Evans Field House, Northern Illinois University

Almost every song from this show could be nominated for a "best ever." This heartfelt "Roses" is no exception.

With the Neville Bros. Jerry gets his Big Easy on.

Perfection to end the first set of one of the truly great shows ever. Keith, Bobby, Jerry--the whole crew is in the pocket and rocking it hard.

Capitol Theatre

Both the best and worst version ever. Why? April Fool's gag: Bobby - keys, Brent & Jerry -drums, Billy - bass - Mickey -guitar Phil-vocals

Big River

War Memorial

They just could do no wrong at this show, Hidden among all the other gems is this monster River. Big solo work by Jerry; nice fills by Keith.

Nice early Brent version played w/the slower cadence of the late 70's style.
Playin' In The Band
May 17, 1977
Memorial Coliseum

Agreed. This whole show has that perfect May '77 vibe of flow, ease and serenity. This is a great '77 PITB...only wish they hadn't hit some sour notes on the reprise b/c that's beautiful as well right up until they misfire on the return to the main theme.

Very nice RJ indeed but there is an absolutely brutal cut during Jerry's 2nd solo on the SBD.
Ramble On Rose
Dec. 19, 1973
Curtis Hixon Convention Hall

Flawless, clean, powerful, vocally perfect rendition and Jerry clearly is having a great time, singing: "Just like OLD Wolfman Jack!" Very underrated version.
Stella Blue
April 21, 1978
Rupp Arena

Hey ChinaCat, Try 10/21/78 a couple slots down (should be higher) for a killer Stella outro.
