If a SBD of this version and show existed we'd all be talking it up. But the AUD is pretty good, & this RJ has tasty Garcia licks. Don't overlook it!

For the love of Jerry you MUST listen to this immediately. Cease all other activities and prepare to have your jaw hit the floor!

Seguing out of a sick Franklin's Tower it gets fast, flawless rolling licks from Jerry and great timing from the rest +killer final Jam

Sweet end to a magical show. Perfect harmonies w/Brent. Only flaw is when Bob says "careful up there" to someone doin' somethin' werid in the rafters

Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain

Philadelphia Civic Center

Talk about slipping through the cracks: This is a classic long, jamming sick slick trip thru both tunes. Intro to FIRE one of the best ever performed

Slowed down, grooved up, excellent rendition. I hear more of the Mission influence than Fingers but either way it's lovely stuff from Garcia. These Winterland shows are my favorite from '74 along with the September France performance.

Was gonna give it just a sentimental nod since I was at this show but in giving it another listen it's quite worthy of an upvote. Rarely did they ever play a poor show at the old Mausoleum. EDIT: listen to Darkstar67 and grab that source he listed.

Agree fully that some of these E72 versions, while not as marathon in length as later ones, pack every bit as much raw power, energy and finesse and sometimes even surpass their longer counterparts. This may be the very best of the tour, neck and neck perhaps with 5/11/72. Either way, you're listening to HOF stuff right here.
They Love Each Other

Overlooked version and show.
