The TC and Pig was a magical time. This GL is terrific w. a very heady drums sequence. All the Pig traits are here: passion, humor, love & the BLUES.

Cryptical Envelopment

yes, yes, yes. This is my favorite for sure and that is not an easy evaluation :) As mentioned, absolute psychedelic wonder. I only have the Cryptical segment as a filler in very nice SBD on a XLIIs and never heard the entire show...how can this be? Much Love

my last west coast shows. Sunday shows? Never miss a Mardis Gras show! Right out of a fantastic O1 , which has to one of the best versions from the last chapter of our party.
Playin' In The Band

Orpheum Theatre

Very fond of this Playin' in a huge way. This song has always, or mostly, been split into different sections of course but to be followed by Cosmic Carlie into Spanish Jam into Rhythm Devils into The Wheel and back to Playin' to wrap up the trip into the (a)ether; is a dream come true if delivered and well, yes the boxes are all checked. The 1st Playin' chunk is marvelous. Firstly, how quickly and beautifully Jer gets into the dense fog that is this Playin' jam...very psychedelic, not too jumbled at all. Phil is an absolute alien in this version. VERY nicely mixed...right in your soul. What a Playin' and what a run at the 'ole Orpheum. Peace & I miss y'all tremendously! tpace

Jer was smiling A LOT this evening :D This east coast section of the tour was very good and the CCCC is just about as good as a shack you'll get to play. A perfect capacity of around 8000 with GA. The best part of this 3 headed Playin' is the jam into drumspace....very heady with Phil shotgunning everything in sight until the Devils came on. Get yourself a clean audience recording of this show instead of the dry board, there are a couple of really nice FOBs around. iko iko naked !

Donna introduces the audience to the upcoming tune; another scorching '72 Playin'. this one gets downright evil at times with the slightest of "Spanish Jam" chords and teases. Keith and Billy are especially wonderful in the manic mid-stage of the song. Once things get more mainline, you get the most beautiful Keith runs...like a shiny harp from heaven while Bobby is playing off rhythm, off time, beautifully coloring the picture around the edges glad to paint beyond the lines. A / A+ Playin'
