I don't agree that this is over-rated. I got the Charlie Miller soundboard long before Dave's Picks ever came out, and it has been a favourite ever since. I just gave a copy to a Deadhead jazz pianist with over 400 Dead CD's, who doesn't have the DP either, and he was blown away too. Great show, great versions of 1/2Step, TLEO, Mexicali, Peggy, Loser, LL>S, Promised L, S>F, EP. Briliant. It has bee a favourite for years, often replayed.

Not for me either. 73-77 was the jazz inspired era when the Dead played jazz-rock. This stuff from '90 is jazz inspired, but it just isn't rock any more. The sax playing is good, but the guitar trio ain't what it used to be.

Most developed version, with Bob resolving three or four times. Not necessarily the best though, but certainly must be listened to for rating others. In the top 3, IMO.

The Daddy. Bob only resolves MLBJ once, I think. After about 12 minutes it turns to a Spanish Jam, then about 6 minutes later goes totally free-form, almost prescience of close encounters, with stretched tension all the way to resolution in the first 3 minutes of US Blues.

Perhaps the only dissenting voice ? Yes, the jam is great, but both the mere existence of the lengthy jam, and the atmosphere/treatment of the song I find inappropriate considering what the song is about. I prefer the shorter, starker, more poignant versions.
