The Wheel
May 7, 1977
Boston Garden
A song I usually skip as normally it is a showcase for their worst out-of-tune-with-each-other attempts at singing in harmony. But this one is different. At least 50% of it is free-form noodling. Very Good.
Jack Straw

Deer Creek Music Center
Well I have listened to it. But it still has not changed my opinion that little original work of artistic merit came from The Dead after February 1979. Yes, Jerry’s guitar work is good, but no way can it be called stupendous by his own standards. The real problem is the Mantovani backing-group doing the lift-music in the background. Next you will be telling me that All Along The Watchtower from the same show is better than Jimi’s version from 1968. Personally, I would vote for Eugene or Tuscaloosa, if not the E72 one.
Big River

Tower Theatre
Oh, yes. One of the best. Obviously a fantastic show, one of the best ever. All we want now is a remastered source, if that is possible.
Help On The Way > Slipknot > Franklin's Tower
June 24, 1976
Tower Theatre
Yes, this one is worth a listen. Good solid version, seems like it should perhaps be in the top 5, top 10 definitely. The whole show is worth getting (dusborne matrix). This HOTW>S>FT is very good --- the only thing wrong with it is that it is not Dark Star (you will understand that comment when you have heard it).
The Eleven
June 7, 1969
Fillmore West
Oh, Yes, this is a cracker. The whole of the only set at this concert is epic. Not just a mega MoM>DS>StS>XI, but also brilliant versions of Dupree's and Doin' That Rag. Then, of course, there is Janis with Pigpen in Lovelight. One of the best of '69. Needs more love.
