I like the early ones. They have better tempo.

Dupree's Diamond Blues
Feb. 22, 1969
Dream Bowl

Listenable, more than. Most live versions are not, so that is praise for a start. Actually, this is one of the best and worth downloading. The whole show is top rate.
Dark Star
April 22, 1969
The Ark

A MUST for any fan of '69 Dead. Top-notch version. NB First 4 songs of the first set are pretty hot too, especially Morning Dew.
Help On The Way > Slipknot > Franklin's Tower
Feb. 26, 1977
Swing Auditorium

Just awesome. This should be in the top three.
Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain
May 8, 1977
Barton Hall - Cornell University

Cubensis Phai below ... Heretic ! Burn him ! Seriously though, I have never been able to listen to post-Godchaux Dead. It just does not have the magic for me. I don't think Barton is best either. I prefer The Mosque or Tuscaloosa. NB Why do my comments appear to be inserted a few up rather than at the end ?
Hard to Handle
Aug. 6, 1971
Hollywood Palladium

Matrix is good .... but the Bertrando AUD is better.
