Any news on the whale song investigation ? First whale song I remember was David Gilmour on Echoes (Meddle, October ‘71). The experts on that group call it “distorted sea-gull cries”, but it is whale song to me. According to legend he did this accidently after “connecting the leads to his wah-wah peddle the wrong way round”, but I would not know if that is b****cks or not. Is that possible ? Does it makes sense ?

That reminds me of something Eric Clapton said when interviewed for a program about the 40th anniversary of the Fender Stratocaster (1994 ?). He said that when he went to America (the second time in 1968 ?) he was told by everyone that he must go to a Grateful Dead concert, because they were “the best guitarists”. He went, and was not then impressed, he said he had thought “Who taught them to play ? The Kingston Trio ?”
Mama Tried

Barton Hall - Cornell University

Odd that the top Mama Tried has only 9 votes while the top Sing Me Back Home has over 30. I suppose it depends on whether you like your schmaltz to show a little balance, or just be totally OTT.

Not a favorite song of mine, but this is better than most, though not as good as Uni Dome. Worth having this concert in your collection, including this track.

Yes, I like Bob's deliberate wrong notes too. But I cannot vote for the DP 11 version as a top 5 as Jerry's guitar is in the closet next door.
