Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain
May 15, 1981
Rutgers Athletic Center

Single digits for this is pure insanity. Yes, it's too damn short for it's own good, and the Fire specifically feels rushed, but it's also very well-performed with an energy that might be best described as "twitchy". The transition jam stirs up a ruckus, too.
Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain
Dec. 13, 1980
Long Beach Arena

This one's pretty fucking awesome. I'll definitely be spinning this with regularity. 11/30/80 is a favorite of mine, but this a completely different animal, so I dont really see the point of comparing them specifically other than the close proximity.
Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain

The Mosque

I totally respect the opinions of those who love this one. It's just that this and 5/21 are versions that don't move me as much as some others, including a couple in single digits. I've been listening to the Dead and Scarlet-Fire's in particular damn near every day since this pandemic began, and they all have something unique and worthwhile about them. Peace to all!
Help On The Way > Slipknot > Franklin's Tower

Swing Auditorium

Very good Slip, and I really enjoy the Franklins too, but the Help doesn't do much for me.
They Love Each Other

Usually a song I'm indifferent towards, but I do like the midtempo presentation here as opposed to other sluggish versions from this period.
