The fact that this isn't already on here continues to attest to how underheard these London shows are. Smoldering version.

Love Brent on this. Greasy and grimy.

Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain

Fox Theatre

Unusual but worthwhile. They're experimenting with some dynamic shifts in this one, and the Devils are keeping it loose with the rhythm. Maybe a bit too mellow in spots, but a nice change up to the more hard-driving versions.

This version has a nice thump to it. And the transition jam builds very nicely. Another one that could grow on me the more time I spend with it.

The contrast in tempo between this and Colgate the next week is remarkable. Both so excellent, but this is relaxed whereas Colgate is frenetic. Fall 77 is an underrated period for the band.

Classic version for a reason. I actually didn't really get into this the first time I heard it, but it's certainly clicked for me now. Jerry's voice is worn but his playing more than compensates, peaking multiple times. This just gets better with repeated listens.

Hmm. I kind of think the Dirt jam here is a trainwreck. I'll need to listen again...
