The fact that this isn't already on here continues to attest to how underheard these London shows are. Smoldering version.

Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain

Philadelphia Civic Center

Ok, yes, Jerry sounds bad here vocally. Listening to him croak out the word "water" in Fire is painful. But...musically this is pretty hard to criticize. Scarlet bridge jam, transition jam, Fire intro, Fire jams, it's all there in spades. Glad to hear this will get the Dave's Picks treatment.

Prefer this to 4/24 as well.

Listen to this and tell me Phil Lesh isn't on another planet. This is top-shelf stuff. Transition jam is incredible. This is in a 78 tier with only 2/5/78 and 9/2/78, and in all honesty this one's probably my favorite of the three. Heady indeed.

Compact but agreeable version. I think this has the potential to grow on me. Rhythmically very nice intro to Fire with Bob and Phil laying down some groove. Bobby's slide teeters on the verge of being too much, though. I wish on these 78 versions he would "take a step back" and let Jerry do his thing, using the slide as a shading instrument, but it is what it is.

Love Fall 79 and this is another example of why. Disco funk followed by awesome transition into Franklin's.
