Eyes Of The World

The tape splice is a little jarring on the Dave's Picks release, but this is paced nicely and has a cool jam at the end.

This whole show is hot. I don't care what anyone says. Unique versions of damn near every song with perfect tempos.

Listen to Download Series 1! The whole thing is fantastic. This Sugaree is spectacular.
Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain

The Palladium

Put some ears on this one, folks. Scarlet and the transition jam are so mellow with Keith really doing a nice job, but the Fire here is one for the ages. Jerry lays out at the beginning and then just scorches the fuck out of it. This was literally the day before May 77 began and should be added to the catalog of amazing creativity of that month.

Originally I posted that this is as good as 10/14/83, and while it's a very strong version, I have to come off of that opinion just a little bit. This does not have quite the transition jam of 10/14, and there's kind of an unusual rhythm going on in Scarlet that I'm not sure I love. Still, I really enjoy the exploration of the 83-84 versions of this combo (check out 4/13/83 and 4/13/84 if you haven't) and this fits right in.
