Holy cow. Wow. Scorches. So does the Candyman. And this is followed by a beautiful Masterpiece.

First one after Brent's death. First one with Bruce being officially part of the gang. Pretty significant. Felt like we'd probably survive...

He's Gone
May 6, 1981
Nassau Coliseum

The dedication to Bobby Sands will always send a chill up my spine. Gotta hear it all the way through the jam into drums...
He's Gone
Sept. 3, 1977
Raceway Park

Where does He's Gone end and NFA begin? So gorgeous. This, along with the Half Step, the Peggy-O, and everything else along the way makes this a serious contender for best show ever.
Sugaree
May 22, 1977
The Sportatorium

Every Sugaree from '77 is ridiculous. But this is the best of the best by far. Pretty much as close to just exactly perfect as they can get.
Eyes Of The World
Nov. 4, 1977
Cotterell Gym - Colgate University

Sublime. One of the best versions to play for anyone unfamiliar with the Dead, will make them all say, what in the name of God goes on here?!?? A runaway train of raging, urgent beauty, and every time you think it's gonna fly off the tracks, the boys hang on tight as Jerry becomes a man possessed. So tight, so rocking, so out of control. A lot of versions on this list are great....but this is ridiculous!!!!!
