Stella Blue
Sept. 15, 1990
Madison Square Garden

Jerry flubs the cheap hotel, but it's OK. His guitar makes up for it. Check out last couple minutes. Builds beautifully. Just a notch below 9/19.

Scorching. Just flipping through the 1990 Garden run. Surprised this ain't here already. Bruce's 1st official night as a member of the band.

Awesome. David Murray starts jamming fantastically about halfway through.

Weird one for sure. Starts as Spanish Jam, Bobby has a great notion, throws in O1 lyrics. Always good pair. Into Stellar Stella Blue-GDTRFB-Around...

Jerry's guitar scorches throughout, with genuine pin drop moments, followed by sweeping beauty. Coda laments for Stella are short but sweet.

This one is ridiculous, as are so many Deals of '94!!! Almost like a Sugaree of '77.... Works just about every time!

This one is listed twice so the votes might be diluted. Excellent late era Dew. Could use more votes!

I was handed this tape with no fanfare over 30 years ago. Knew it was a Betty Board, knew nothing else, so I knew it would sound nice. Had no other expectations. Popped it into the boom box in my '79 Oldmobile Cutlass. Was blown away by the Scarlet-Fire, blown away by the Saint-NFA-Stephen. Then came the Dew. I can still remember driving on the Cross Bronx and being blown to smithereens by it. I played it again and again and again. It was everything I wanted in a Dew. I would play this entire set for Non-Heads on long drives, and it converted them all. I'll never be able to explain it. We all know so many other incredible shows are out there, no idea why this one clicked on so many levels, but for me, I'll be forever grateful to my buddy for not saying a word when he handed it to me. I just listened to the music play. Was fortunate to be present at some of the Dews near the top of this list. All amazing. But this one climbed and built and raged in a way I wanted all Dews to move. I've told this story before, because, I'll never forget hearing it for the first time. It was that powerful. Speaking of great Dews, recently listened to one from 3/27/94. Fantastic!!!! As are so many.....

The Stella Blue is awesome this night and the night before was a pretty good show too. Matter of fact, 3/20 had a great Let it Grow-Don't Ease and a real nice Black Peter. 90s Dead actually had some fine moments. Vince was in pretty good form here.

Yep. 94. You will truly miss Jerry after this one. He sounds healthy(ish) and strong and grateful (and sad). Quite frankly, shocked it ain't here already. His voice, guitar, it's all here, as it was, and you will miss those days for a minute or so, because it really sounds like he would really rather be with you.....!
