Big River
Sept. 28, 1975
Lindley Meadows, Golden Gate Park

An explosive reading of the tune. Maybe Billy had an inkling beforehand and just wanted to be sure ya'll knew it was still a cowboy number.

Promised Land

Winterland Arena

A very nice 'lush' version nominated in the ongoing attempt to evaluate all of Dick's picks.

China Cat Sunflower -> I Know You Rider

Nassau Coliseum

Gotten good mileage outta this one the last few months.

The Other One
June 26, 1974
Providence Civic Center

Proud and upstanding part of a great sequence. Phil is at the top of his game in one of his greatest of bass-playing years.

The Other One
Nov. 23, 1973
County Coliseum

This is most notable, I'd say, for the absolutely nuclear bomb that Phil drops during the 'Space' portion. Play it loud on a big rig!

Mississippi Halfstep Uptown Toodeloo

Alexandra Palace

Ragged but right.
Scarlet Begonias
Aug. 4, 1974
Philadelphia Civic Center

Top-shelf '74 version.
Scarlet Begonias
July 19, 1974
Selland Arena

Okay, I now know that I must not have had the volume up loud enough before. Definitely some good stuff here but there are a number of other versions from '74 alone that warrant as much attention as this one (5/14, 8/4, and 8/5 all immediately come to mind). Anyway, I think I'll go listen to this one real loud again right now.
Space
Sept. 21, 1974
Palais Des Sports

On my CD this is over 30 minutes long. It starts with just Phil and Ned and then the others slowly come in somewhere around the 20 minute mark or so. Europe '74 had some good 'Seastones' (see 9/11/74 for the Daddy of 'em all).
Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain
Sept. 1, 1979
Holleder Memorial Stadium

The centerpiece of a short but sweet show. Features a nice multifaceted dedication by Bobby just before they rip into Scarlet.
