A big version. Listen as the baton gets passed without missing a beat.

Big River

Madison Square Garden

An A1 performance that just improves with repeated listenings.

They Love Each Other
April 13, 1983
Patrick Gymnasium, U of Vermont

A bull's ass in fly season and the boys on this one are both TIGHT!!! (Although tight might not be the correct word for an awesome TLEO.)

Brokedown Palace
Sept. 28, 1972
Stanley Theatre

While not without imperfection, this version gets at that misty quality central to the ethos of the tune.

Dane County Coliseum

A thin slice of sublime cheese in an earwateringly delicious sandwich: EP>Eyes>Playin'>Wheel>Playin' Reprise.

Fillmore East

I've been wondering the same thing of late, CarrionCrow. I've wanted to post the feedback from the 12/12/69 for a long time as that one is a nice piece of spontaneous composition.

Shrine Auditorium

Fantastic stuff. A great sequence. Is it my favorite? Don't know. But does it deliver the goods? Big time.

Dec. 12, 1969
Thelma Theater

More interesting and fun and so just plain better than any I've heard from '72.

Preposterously underrated.
Uncle John's Band
Dec. 12, 1969
Thelma Theater

I remarked to myself when I first heard this on the Dave's Pick. After more listens, it is now one of those 'Uncle John's Band's that I think of when I think of my favorite 'Uncle John's Band's. Wraps the deep, primal ethos of the tune in a warmth and exploration and obvious good cheer that is less to be had on many other versions.
